First Day of Work

So, today was my first day at MotorCity Blight Busters. First off, John George is an amazing person with what seems to be unlimited energy. He is doing big things, and I am looking forward to joining him in bettering Detroit this week.

Today, we did some demolishing of a future apartment for Detroit citizens. We also cleaned multiple blocks, removing garbage from yards, streets, and the sidewalk. It was nice seeing what just a couple hours of work can do. The area looked amazing. We also did some cleaning around the Blight Busters sites. Judge Mathis, yes the Judge Mathis on tv is suppose to be stopping by tomorrow to see the things that Mr. George and Blight Busters. He is currently working on a new tv show, and will possibly be documenting some of the work we will be doing with the group. So let's see how tomorrow goes, I'll make sure I keep you guys posted on how it turns out.

Oh, by the way, I would like to just give a big thank you to all of the ASB Sponsors, especially FedEx for the amazing Oscar party we had last night. That is where the picture above was taken. So much work went into it, and we all really appreciated it. And in case you were all wondering, I took third place in the guessing the winners contest. I know, I am pretty gangsta.

Well onto tomorrow. I am excited to see what the day has in store. See you soon.

Just days away........

So my name is Jason Davis, in case you didn't happen to look at the profile. I am a student at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. To tell you the truth, I had an idea of what Alternative Spring Break was, but didn't know exactly how involved the students got. After hearing stories from my fellow classmates about their experiences, and the great things they did, I knew that I wanted to take part in this event. I have always done community service, whether it be from raising goods for a women's shelter, working at a soup kitchen, or even participating in the recent MLK day. It feels good helping others and helping your community, and most importantly, creating change. Why else would we all be doing this? So I look forward to getting to meet you all, and welcoming you to our campus. See you soon.

Peace Out Home Skillets
